Donte Greene Leaves…

April 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

…and that doesn’t signify the arrival of spring.

According to Syracuse.com Donte Greene is headed to the NBA after his freshman year. Now, don’t get me wrong, Greene is a solid b-baller, but this is a mistake. He’s simply not primed and ready to match up against NBA players. Even one more year and he’d be much more of an NBA contender. There are areas of his game that just need improvement including: defense, to the hoop moves, and better judgment with his shot selection.

Syracuse had a rough year, and the loss of Greene is going that any, but they will have a solid line-up with Flynn stepping up at the point guard role, Harris developing as an all around player and the return of Devendorf and Rautins.

Greene played a pivotal role, that’s for certain, and even though this is bad news for ‘Cuse hoops, it’s just may be worst news for Greene. He just doesn’t realize it yet.

It was the free throws after all

Final Four
Four #1 seeds, although historic, just didn’t seem to entice, but last weekends games certainly delivered… UNC down by 28 with only 12 points? Memphis snippin’ free throws left and right. UCLA destroyed on D? Even though I had Memphis in the championship game in my bracket, as I saw the competition, I just didn’t think they had it. UNC seemed strong throughout the tourney, until Kansas just blew it up from the gates, but one of the best 1 on 1 match-ups took place in the championship game.

Championship Matchup
Kansas and Memphis put on quite a show during the championship game. The back and forth rhythm was a splendor to watch. With Kansas cutting the hoop so well, they seemed the stronger team, but they just couldn’t snip from the outside and that’s what kept Memphis close throughout.

With Memphis up by ten and two minutes left (even though I could’ve cared less of the outcome) I got a little trembly for Memphis – they had never won, Kansas had couple titles under their belt. Then it began…

The Fouls and the Free Throws
A record breaking win-wise season had come down to the very weakness that had lightly plagued them throughout the season. Free throws were their last demise, and when the game was tied; the second Memphis went into overtime – that’s when they lost.

I think I may have pulled an outer thigh bone…

March 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Finally after four years of pondering, I joined a kickball league. I never realized the depths of such a game. As a youngster kickball was my favorite, but we didn’t exactly have nasty curve ball pitching, and crazy spin kicks. It was all about the long distance boot and nothing more. Pitching was… down the middle for the most part – perfect for power boots.

Put the Balm on?
Last night, after an intense kickball match, I attained more than the usual aches and pains. My outer hip/thigh region aches with a fully-strained sensation. I executed a series of 10 to 15 sec stretches which provided some relief. I tiger balmed the region as well, which gave it a slight hot tingle, but yikes… I just hope I didn’t pull my outer thigh bone.
