I think I may have pulled an outer thigh bone…

March 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Finally after four years of pondering, I joined a kickball league. I never realized the depths of such a game. As a youngster kickball was my favorite, but we didn’t exactly have nasty curve ball pitching, and crazy spin kicks. It was all about the long distance boot and nothing more. Pitching was… down the middle for the most part – perfect for power boots.

Put the Balm on?
Last night, after an intense kickball match, I attained more than the usual aches and pains. My outer hip/thigh region aches with a fully-strained sensation. I executed a series of 10 to 15 sec stretches which provided some relief. I tiger balmed the region as well, which gave it a slight hot tingle, but yikes… I just hope I didn’t pull my outer thigh bone.

Hail to Chief Triples

March 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

With opening day just a whiff away, I’ve got baseball fun facts on the mind. Well one in particular… . Baseball fun facts seem to linger throughout the years and how I recall some of them I cannot explain. Some merely intrigue me. Some simply stupefy. Others well, I can’t even possible fathom how they even occurred in the first place (please – no wisenheimer ‘roid comments)

Astonishing Triple Tales
Ask me what I did last weekend, and I’ll have to get back to you on that. Ask me what I had for dins yesterday… what I did today or that name of that chick my woman is always complaining about at work, and I can’t help you there. On the other hand, ask me who the all-time single-season leader in triples is, and I will promptly reply – Chief Wilson, 36 triples, 1912.

Strong Withstanding Stats
This amazing feat stuns me more than many of baseballs long list of remarkable records. The day of the triple seems to have vanished. Of course, there are speed horses like Reyes and Granderson, but I don’t they or anyone else will come anywhere near the Chief’s 36 triples. Well played Chief. You just may have one baseball’s unbreakable records.

Business Training Done Right

March 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Often times companies invest very little in training programs for their employees. This “just figure it out” attitude can be more costly in the long run than just training employees the right way, the first time around. By implementing effective strategies and sales training, your employees become more efficient and generate more sales. So if you haven’t already invested in a lucrative business performance program – isn’t time you did so?

Here’s a great site that focuses on sales training and solution selling. They’ve even got some hi-profile clients in their portfolio including Heineken and IBM.

New Entertainment Center

March 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Two months from now my girlfriend finishes grad school. I think I’m more excited than she is because each day her stress levels amplify and that stress trickles down on me like a dank ‘n damp blanket… and that blanket is getting danker and damper all to quickly.

Shop for Anything
Aside from her studies she shops wilder then Wile E. Coyote, but to get into that would really start to frustrate me. So, I’ll focus on her latest search for something… anything.

Furniture Finds a Way
She insists on finding a new entertainment center. (The TV sits on a vintage record player… and a snazzy one at that). Bear in mind, we plan to move this summer after she graduates. Why haul in a new entertainment center right now and then haul it out in a few months? (She’s stressed and just isn’t thinking clearly – which isn’t typical, but I’m doing my best to support the cause).

Zero in on the Prize
Anyways, after further discussion, the entertainment center is on hold, but I did find this cool furniture site in the process. http://www.homefurnituremart.com

On the Job Front…

March 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Whether you’ve got a job or not, looking for a new one is a friggin’ pain in the loins.

Realization
I’ve never been more challenged with any task or project on the job as I have been with finding another job. Why must it be so mentally tiring? Why must I make it to the final cut every time, and ever-so-narrowly miss the cusp.

Ponderous
What more can I do? I fully prep for the interviews. I research the companies. I interview with profound positivity. I market my skills (that aren’t paying the bills). I articulate how I can make it happen… and here’s why.. and here’s how. I write follow up letters with enthusiasm.

Truth
I’m your ideal candidate. I’m the fella whose going to catapult your biz into a frenzy of success. Just throw me in the mix… I’ll get it done.

Printer Ink Shortage Solved

March 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Slowly, my girlfriend is wrapping up grad school. So she’s swamped with papers, reports, presentations and all that awesomeness. I guess it was only natural to hear her scream in despair when the ink cartridge went dry. Of course, the low ink reminder had been in effect for months, but she chose to ignore.

Simma Down Now
While she was frantically running around in circles – fully buggin’ out – I hit the Web in search for printer ink.

Peace and Printer Ink
Low and behold I found a great deal at www.compimaging.com. They had our ink cartridge in stock, so I ordered it up and we had it by the next day.

East Coast Pizza Meets West

March 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

…awful is one thing, but “not for consumption ” is another. Pizza in New York is incredible. You can find a tasty slice just about anywhere, and that’s just the way it is, but this isn’t exactly true everywhere you go. The closer you get to the West Coast the closer you get to inedible slices. Prior to my West Coast peregrinations, I had never sampled an inedible slice…

Just Gimme a Tasty Slice, Yo
Let’s take San Diego. What a beauteous place, but if you’ve ever tried the pizza, its highly regrettable. I’ve lived out in this beauteous paradise for almost five years, and for the first two, every time I tried a slice, I nearly vomited. Then one day I caught word of Bronx Pizza. These guys know what it’s all about, and word on the street is they use bottled water to make the dough. Finally some taste-tacular pizza in SoCal!
