Left Lean Chair Finally Topples

May 19, 2008 · No Comments

My old office chair just straight-up clunked out. I’ve had it for awhile, but not for crazy long. In the beginning, the chair it adapted a mysterious left-lean. This phenomena occurs when the chair leans off to the left. If you look at it straight on you can see the lean, but the worst part is sitting within the lean. I got used to it and after awhile I didn’t even think of it. Then just the other day, I’m chillin’ at my desk and bam the side armrest snaps and the left lean chair becomes a wide-open crack ‘o plastic.

Durable & Comfy
When it comes to an office chair, comfort is first and foremost, and durability a close second. So, I decided to splurge and get a chair that would truly go the distance. Something real comfy. Something real snazzy. So I hit up this furniture Web site.

Thinking About Golf by the Sea

April 29, 2008 · No Comments

Today, I got to thinking about golf by the sea. I wouldn’t consider myself to be an avid golfer, but there’s something about hitting up some fresh new greens when I travel. Being out on a gorgeous golf course can be even more invigorating than the golf itself. Perhaps that’s just bizarre, but when I’m chillin it up on a golf course in Maui - peering out into the deep blue sea - it’s simply breathtaking.

With that in mind, there’s actually a quite extensive public golf course website out there that I lists tons of courses across the U.S. It come sin handy when I want to venture out there on the greens, when I’m venturing out anywhere…

I’ve Got a Sneaking Suspicion That I Might Be Getting Married

April 26, 2008 · No Comments

What should I think when I find a wedding ring… that might be for me? I was rummaging through my girlfriends dresser - not snooping - just looking for my favorite pair of socks. She rolls up the socks after laundry and just loves to mix my socks in with her… what’s worse is that when I addressed her about the issue ever-so-gingerly, her reply was… I didn’t even realize… isn’t that cute. Nope. I just want to put on a pair of socks without have to rummage extensively.

Wedding Ring… for Me?
Anyways, during my rummaging I found a man’s wedding ring in her dresser drawer. It looked new, but it baffled me to no end… Then my mind really got wandering. What is she up to? Is she planning to marry some other fella out of the blue? Is she planning to marry me out of the blue? Just one of those situations where we go on a trip and she locks me into something… oh by the dear… were getting married… Nahh it doesn’t quite work that way… but I certainly pondered such possibilities. That wouldn’t be her style…

Later that day, I told her what I found, and simply asked her - Is that wedding ring for me? It wasn’t - phew - her friend (who I had totally forgot was getting married) wanted her to hold on to it at our place for safe keeping.

Where did she get it I asked? (Perhaps its just me, but when I think of a wedding bands… I think lavish with diamonds for the ladies) Eternal Tungsten she replied…

Wets Talk Widgets

April 12, 2008 · No Comments

Widgets are cool, but shouldn’t there be a standard when it comes to the available choices? A personal favorite is the edit option. I’m not sure what you think, but when I peep my own blog, and I see some bizarre grammatical error, or misdirecting word, I want to change it up right away. I know, up top there’s the edit post feature, but this lacks excellence. When I have the edit post option somewhere in my post itself - I take comfort in that.

Now I’m thinking that this might not even be a widget issue…

…and if you’ve made to this blog (which so few have at of today) you may be inclined to wonder I didn’t choose a design with and edit post option within each post? Well, this particular design just captured my attention… for now

Donte Greene Leaves…

April 10, 2008 · No Comments

…and that doesn’t signify the arrival of spring.

According to Syracuse.com Donte Greene is headed to the NBA after his freshman year. Now, don’t get me wrong, Greene is a solid b-baller, but this is a mistake. He’s simply not primed and ready to match up against NBA players. Even one more year and he’d be much more of an NBA contender. There are areas of his game that just need improvement including: defense, to the hoop moves, and better judgment with his shot selection.

Syracuse had a rough year, and the loss of Greene is going that any, but they will have a solid line-up with Flynn stepping up at the point guard role, Harris developing as an all around player and the return of Devendorf and Rautins.

Greene played a pivotal role, that’s for certain, and even though this is bad news for ‘Cuse hoops, it’s just may be worst news for Greene. He just doesn’t realize it yet.

It was the free throws after all

April 10, 2008 · No Comments

Final Four
Four #1 seeds, although historic, just didn’t seem to entice, but last weekends games certainly delivered… UNC down by 28 with only 12 points? Memphis snippin’ free throws left and right. UCLA destroyed on D? Even though I had Memphis in the championship game in my bracket, as I saw the competition, I just didn’t think they had it. UNC seemed strong throughout the tourney, until Kansas just blew it up from the gates, but one of the best 1 on 1 match-ups took place in the championship game.

Championship Matchup
Kansas and Memphis put on quite a show during the championship game. The back and forth rhythm was a splendor to watch. With Kansas cutting the hoop so well, they seemed the stronger team, but they just couldn’t snip from the outside and that’s what kept Memphis close throughout.

With Memphis up by ten and two minutes left (even though I could’ve cared less of the outcome) I got a little trembly for Memphis - they had never won, Kansas had couple titles under their belt. Then it began…

The Fouls and the Free Throws
A record breaking win-wise season had come down to the very weakness that had lightly plagued them throughout the season. Free throws were their last demise, and when the game was tied; the second Memphis went into overtime - that’s when they lost.

A Less Devious Lactose

April 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

A simple fact for the lactose intolerant - you can enjoy cheese. How so? With a little understanding of lactose, you’ll be you chomping down cheese in a jiffy.

A not so scientific lesson in lactose
Lactose is a complex sugar. So, think of it as a sugar that is too “complex”, or difficult to digest. Someone who’s lactose intolerant lacks the enzymes to digest its complex sugars, and this is what leads to gaseous eruptions and/or urgent ventures to nature’s nearest facilities.

Lactose - Allergy or Tolerance?
It’s easy to think that lactose intolerance is an allergy, but this is far from true. Lactose intolerance is simply a tolerance of lactose. With this in mind, everyone can tolerate lactose on different levels. Even more fascinating is the fact that every food or dairy product has different levels of lactose. So, if you can combine the two - how much lactose you can tolerate with the level of lactose in whatever you’re consuming - then you can in fact enjoy certain dairy products.

What Dairy Products?
Aged cheese! The older the cheese, the less lactose it contains. Let’s take cheddar cheese. It comes in various varieties: mild, sharp, extra sharp and extra extra sharp (made from raw cow’s milk). The sharper the cheese, the more it has aged. (For a cheese-lovin’ lactosian such as myself - this is remarkable.)

So, if you’re looking for a less devious lactose, extra sharp cheddar is certainly a way to tame those cheesy cravings without getting the rumbles rumbling.

Speak of the Wind

April 7, 2008 · No Comments

Windy Whimsicals
Just here chillin’ on a Monday afternoon - watching the wind gently brush the curtains. Splendidly, my apartment has windows facing all four directions. So, the cross-breeze is particularly superb on a day such as today with winds tailing in from the West, and temperatures in the low 60’s.

Barrage of Breezes
I guess I’ve always been fascinated by the wind. Strong winds, although devastating can be quite a site, and poor for biking. Light winds can be incredibly refreshing, especially when your sweating it up indoors, and then along comes a soothing breeze that momentarily leaves you speechless with delight.

Laptop Memory Lapse

April 4, 2008 · No Comments

IT ‘n Me
In my college days I was an “IT” guy. What am I saying - I was an IT major with absolutely no interest in the subject what-so-ever. I know… “But it’s such a lucrative, high-paying field”… yeah, and an awful one at that. In my world IT everything should be craigslist and notepad. All the other programs and applications will eventually be obsolete anyways because simplicity is enjoyed by all… and even though IT can make our lives easier, we’ve still not at the point where IT makes our lives easy. I await that day.

Remembrance of a B.S. Degree
Anyways, my “lucrative” degree in IT never landed me a sweet job out of school… I chose to pursue other avenues. What my degree did provide was a sense for the hi-tech basics. So, when my woman came to me in a troubled voice and said “my computer is telling me I don’t have enough memory” - I knew what had to be done. Using a 8 year old laptop doesn’t really help the cause neither. My first advice - get a new laptop… “but I’m graduating in a month. I can’t think about that now.” Of course not.

Memory Revamp
So once again I hop on the trusty Internet seek out some laptop memory. One site that particularly impressed me was www.memorysuppliers.com. They had a great selection, there prices were decent and I’ve been meaning to get a USB drive to back up my info - they had those too.

I think I may have pulled an outer thigh bone…

March 28, 2008 · No Comments

Finally after four years of pondering, I joined a kickball league. I never realized the depths of such a game. As a youngster kickball was my favorite, but we didn’t exactly have nasty curve ball pitching, and crazy spin kicks. It was all about the long distance boot and nothing more. Pitching was… down the middle for the most part - perfect for power boots.

Put the Balm on?
Last night, after an intense kickball match, I attained more than the usual aches and pains. My outer hip/thigh region aches with a fully-strained sensation. I executed a series of 10 to 15 sec stretches which provided some relief. I tiger balmed the region as well, which gave it a slight hot tingle, but yikes… I just hope I didn’t pull my outer thigh bone.
